While not busy running Rage tournaments at Origins or at home, or keeping up the RALV rulings archive, or being actively involved in several other card games, the RALV rules alpha Matt Farney is now offering to sanction Rage tournaments himself.

I have talked to my Sept and Wizards.  It was agreed that this was a Good
Idea (tm) and I would pose it on the list:

I'm going to offer Sanctioning for Rage tournaments.
I plan on keeping track of Rankings using the system I developed for our
local tournaments, so that we can have an actual ranking system.

I plan on allowing anyone across the country to join.
In particular, I would hope that groups of players would join via Caern
identification.
(ID-Numbers are going to include a 3 digit caern id and a number, so that
records can easily be searched by Caern, Tribe, etc.)

I will also allow old tournament results to be turned in with one caveat, to
be included if they are accurate enough for me to apply my formula to.  They
also need to be in an applicable format.

One other thing.  There is a multiplier in the formula.  Most tournaments
are value 1.  I plan on allowing each caern the ability to run one value 2
tournament each calendar year (your caern championships).  There might be
other value 2 tournaments at my discresion.  (Mostly for tournaments at big
conventions or tournaments like Stone River Challenge)  Value 3 is
exclusively for the world championships.

Now the bad news about this:
I do not have records for Stone River Challenge I and the 1998 World
Championships.  With accurate records (name/tribe/etc), I cannot include
these.  (For our local ratings, I guesstimated the values, but I will not do
that large scale.  That would be too arbitrary)

The actual formula for determining ranking status is still being discussed. I also expect this to be picked up by Azrael Productions in the not so distant future. (See the press release here.)
