Identification: Dracons are a reptilian race. They stand roughly 1.4 meters tall and weigh about 90 kilograms. Their bodies are covered with small overlapping scales and some species have leathery wings which enable gliding ability. Dracons are always a greenish brown in color. They have sharp teeth and razor like claws which are blood red or black in color and show signs of frequent use. They shun clothing of all kinds and most even refuse to wear armor.
Habitat and Culture: Dracons are usually outcast from society. They can most often be found living deep within caverns or swamps. They are nocturnal and try to avoid the daylight as much as possible. In cities they often make their homes in basements or even the sewers and are found in the poorest parts of town.
Dracons gather into large tribes numbering anywhere from 100 to well over 1000 individuals. These tribes are very close knit groups and loyal to each other unto death. With few exceptions, outsiders are not welcome among the tribe. Males and females share equal status in governing and protecting the tribe.
Dracons are terribly paranoid, no doubt from years of persecution and ridicule by other races. Be careful when dealing with Dracons, it takes very little to make them suspicious, and once that happens there is nothing short of a miracle that can make them change their minds. They distrust outsiders, but most are not normally prone to violence. Some, however, are well known to eat members of other races. They tend to stay away from the large habitations of other races. The braver Dracons dwell on the fringe of society, although a few will be found mingling within the local communities.
Many Dracons have made a name for themselves as raiders and bandits, striking suddenly and quickly. What they lack in size and stregnth they tend to make up for in numbers. Dracons will very rarely engage an enemy one on one, prefering to have as many advantages in their favor before striking. Many consider this a cowardly act, but dracons call it superb strategy. They will plan raids and attacks down to the smallest detail, and the results must always outweigh the cost.
Racial Abilities: A few Dracons possess the ability to glide. This can only be done from a high point to one that is lower. Dracons can also see into the infra-red spectrum. Their scaly hide provides adequate protection of AV 3. They often utilize both their claws and teeth in close quarter combat, damage codes of 2 and 1 respectively. They are also excellent swimmers, using their tails as a sort of rudder to guide and propell themselves through the water.
Attribute Modifiers: Dracons aren't very strong, but their perceptive abilities are beyond reproach. They are quite nimble and can move about rapidly over any terrain. Their isolationist attitude leads them to be slightly under educated. Their fearsome appearance tends to make them unfavorable towards other races, along with the stories of their appetites for other races.
