Identification: Anuir are a giant humanoid race, mostly resembling larger versions of a common human being. They stand well over 2.5 meters tall and weigh in excess of 120 kilograms. Their facial features are overly large and they possess a rather obtrusive forehead. Skin color is most often pale and body hair is usually blonde or reddish. Anuir are usually unkempt in appearance. They rarely bathe and most often don rough cut furs and leather clothing. Body paint and tattoos are also very common among the Anuir, and in many groups such things are a symbol of one's position and authority.
Habitat and Culture: Anuir live in the worst kinds of terrain imaginable. This may be an indication as to why they are always so brash and crude. Few enjoy large cities, but most realize the necessity of such places. They trade with other races quite often, usually plying their wares of fine steel works, exotic furs, and jewelry. They are shrewd merchants, and will often opt to not sell their wares at all rather than let them go for too low a price.
Anuir dwell in small clans, made up of several extended families. A clan is ruled by a war duke and a clan chief. The chief handles day to day affairs, while the war duke commands the clan troops. The system works surprisingly well. There is also a council of the eldest members of the clan, both male and female who resolve conflicts between the clan chief and war duke. Family is very important to an Anuir and it is with the family that all loyalties lie. Marriages between Anuir are a joining of families, so most marriages are arranged by the parents with mates they see as the most profitable allies. Anuir who leave the clan are treated in a variety of ways. Some are shunned and considered outcast while others are thought to be brave and heroic for surviving in the outside world without the help and companionship of kin.
Anuir are well known for their battle prowess and can often be found fighting in the gladiatorial circuit or as mercenaries. As soon as they are old enough to walk, Anuir children are taught how to fight. Boys and girls are taught all the ways of war, even though it is generally the males who are expected to defend the clan in times of war. There are a few clans of Anuir that are matriarchal, although these are exceptionally rare.
Racial Abilities: The Anuir are very tough and are well adjusted to harsh climates. They are highly resistant to extreme colds and can endure without food or water for long periods of time. Anuir rarely live beyond the age of 50 years due to their warlike nature and the hostile environment in which they tend to live. Anuir also tend to specialize in a specific weapon type and when using their chosen weapon they enjoy a +1 modifier to all attack rolls. This is not a weapon field such as swords or clubs, but a specific type, such as a long sword or a flail.
Attribute Modifiers: The Anuir are very strong and healthy thanks to their hard lives. They do tend to be a bit slow, especially when it comes to technical things as they are a simple people. They are well respected for their combative skills by other races but are also feared for their violent ways.
