Eight people turned out. The kids were late (the posters are there for a reason Aaron =) Lack of cheese. No Get or Furies. Ahroun played by two who had not played it before. Stargazers and Children of Gaia played for the first time respectively. Balanced results!! Eight players and six finished at 2-2. Quite unusual. The Bad: Certain people did not show up. We should have had 12-16 not 8. The Odd: John incurred probably the only Rage infraction ever to be reported to the DCI. John had 3 Forceful Winds in his deck with the cub who allows three of a combat card with an auspice or tribe benefit. FW is a benefit Kailindo. He received a game loss in round 4, wiping out his 5 points. In a bizarre twist of the wheel of fate, John would have made the upper finals with those 5 points. -MF Farneymp@erinet.com | Official Rage Rules Guru Togashi Mattsu, Enlightening Monk | Sees-Through-Lies, Children of Gaia Ragabash Visit the Official Rage Rulings Archive at www.erinet.com/farneymp/rulings.html
Matt also answers a question on the format of the tournament:
Date: Wed, 1 Dec 1999 18:02:25 -0500 From: "Matt Farney"To: rageinfo@frpg.com Subject: Re: Catching up... >Second, you posted the finals for the tourney on the 21st. You said that you >expected 12+ players but only had eight. Was the tourney supposed to be one >on one or was it supposed to be multiplayer? >If it was multiplayer and you defaulted to one on one, what chaos was >generated with deck construction. >If it was one on one, then how did everyone enjoy that type of Rage tourney? >Just curious, let me know. I usually announce in advance what format the tournament will be. Straight multiplayer or One on One. If we run One on One, we list the results as of the Swiss rounds (for DCI purposes) and then we play a multiplayer final(s) for prizes. [Aside: This also lets me play in the tournaments. In straight multiplayer, I cannot play.] To run a 1-1 tourney, I used DCI reporter to generate pairings and tiebreakers. All I had to do was to input the people and keep track of renown totals for the third tiebreaker. I seem to get mixed reactions. Some people like multiplayer more, some individual games more. I like 1-1 personally (aside from the obvious reason) because each player plays 4-6 games rather than 2-3. -Matt Farneymp@erinet.com | Official Rage Rules Guru Togashi Mattsu, Enlightening Monk | Sees-Through-Lies, Children of Gaia Ragabash Visit the Official Rage Rulings Archive at www.erinet.com/farneymp/rulings.html
