Fire & Ice Game Convention

Mistrunner will be at the Fire and Ice Game Convention, February 27-March 1. I will be running the short adventure, “A Simple Job”, on Saturday February 28 at 2pm. Fire and Ice is one of my all time favorite cons, and a nicer bunch of gamers you will be hard pressed to find. If you live anywhere near Manitowoc, WI, I would highly recommend coming out. Heck, if you aren’t nearby, hotels are cheap.  Hope to see you there.

What the Heck is Going On?

Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately, been rather busy and I have to say a bit uninspired as of late. GenCon was a blast, but it also seriously drained my batteries and I haven’t had a chance to recharge yet. Odds are I won’t get that refresh until after the New Year what with the day job being in retail. But, enough of my whining.

Speaking of GenCon. I ran three sessions of Mistrunner at the big con, two of which were sold out. Everyone had a goodtime, or they were very convincing liars. Running it at GenCon made me take some serious looks at the game play and I spoke with one of the original contributors about a possible second edition. This is long way off talk, still just in the speculation and what if phase. If you have some tweaks you think the game could use, I am always delighted to hear them. Without player feedback the game can never truly grow and improve.

The Big Book of Perks is still happening, just being pushed off again. I am hoping, really hoping that I can finish a good draft to send off to playtesters and editors before the end of the year. My hopeful goal is to release at least two, if not three, small supplements next year. One being the Big Book of Perks. The second one will be a small collection of adventure starters, and the third, if it happens, will be something to build up the world some more.

And on to building up the world some more, I have some ideas that I will be throwing up on the website in the coming weeks, more glimpses into the world and the people that live in it. Next up will be a peek at the City at the Edge of the World.

It’s Official!! Mistrunner at Gen Con

Just got the notification today, Mistrunner events will be running at Gen Con. I will be running two Mistrunner adventures at the big show. Horror of the Rope Ghost will be on Thursday at 2pm and again on Friday at 6pm. The Box runs Fridat at noon, repeating on Saturday at noon. Each event is slated to run for 4 hours, so come and swim in the Mists for a bit.

I will also have a bigger sneak peek at the Big Book of Perks at Gen Con, and Perks will be used in gameplay at the events. Hope to see you there!

News and Stuff

There is a lot going on, not just with Mistrunner, but for Naked Hobo Productions in general. I’m not going to go into all the details of other projects other than saying that they aren’t game related, and they involve a lot of my free time. Despite that, I am still working on getting the Big Book of Perks available as a PDF download by mid-summer (that means July-ish). This will be very art light, probably not much more than a B&W cover, but that isn’t the point of the book. The point is that you and your players are going to have dozens upon dozens of ways to customize your characters even more. I gave a brief look at some of the Perks a few weeks ago, and let me just tell you, that isn’t even the tip of it.

Every skill is getting a set of 5 Perks. Not just every skill group. Every. Single. Skill. Marksman? Five Perks. Cooking? Five Perks. Alchemy? Five Perks. Conjuration? Five Perks. That means the Big Book of Perks will contain over 400 Perks. That is a lot, and it is a big reason as to why this is taking so long.

Once the Big Book of Perks is done we will start focusing on delivery some mini-adventures, with the hopes of releasing at least three within the first year. I have a lot of things planned to add to the world of Mistrunner, just keep in mind, I’m mostly a solo shop for a lot of this stuff (and I have a day job and social life too).

There is a also a little bit of con news too. Mistrunner will be running this summer at GlennCon in Glendale, Wisconsin. The dates are from July 18-21. No times are set yet, but most likely Mistrunner will run twice, once on Saturday and once on Sunday.

We also hope to run an event or two at GenCon this year in August, though nothing has been solidified yet.

Mistrunner will also be returning to NewGame, October 11-12 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

That is about it for news right now, and I hope you have been enjoying the updates and new source material.

NEWGame 2013

Mistrunner is going to be at the Northeast Wisconsin Gameapalooza, October 19-20.  We will have a booth selling the game, as well as a sneak peak at the current supplement, The Big Book of Feats.  Saturday October 19 we will be running “Horror of the Rope Ghost” and on Sunday we have “Rygar Ate my Baby”.  Come out and show your support, or if you are new, check out the game.  NewGame 2013 is the successor to OshCon, and if it is half as good it will be more fun than a bag full of Paganhunters.  It is local cons like these that are the bread and butter of the small, indie publisher.  It is here we can interact with the players and hopefully introduce new folks to our little piece of the RPG world.  Hope to see you there.

Gen Con 2013

Mistrunner will be attending the big daddy con this year.  While we won’t have a booth, the game will be there, and will always be ready to whip out some dice and give a demo, or time permitting, a complete adventure.  I will also have copies available for those that want them, though such business would need to be conducted outside the Con as I don’t want to be that guy and break all the rules and be a dick and steal thunder from hard working types that actually paid for a booth.  I am planning on having several PDF copies available to those that complete various tasks that I will be assigning on Twitter.  You can find me there @Nakedhobo.  I look forward to seeing all my gamer friends. as well as making many new ones.

Mistrunner is going to be at OshCon.  If you are anywhere near Wisconsin, come out for two great days of fun and games, October 13-14.  I’ve been going to this convention for the last 5 or 6 years now and it is always a good time.  Board games, role playing, miniatures, if it can be played, good chance you’ll find it here.
