Mistrunner is a pen-and-paper roleplaying game, set in a world of the far future. Humans are extinct, and their descendants live in a world split between the Mists (the home of the immortal Fae), and the True Realms (home of the mortal races).
Attributes range from –3 to +3. Characters have a number of skills, at varied levels. To make a skill check, roll a number of d10s equal to your skill level, take the largest number, and modify by the required attribute. If you rolled a 10, roll again and add. If you rolled a 10, roll again and add. (Repeat until you don't roll a 10...) Additional 10s in the original roll each at 1 to the result. Meet or exceed the target set by the game master, and you are successful.
Magic is fairly free-form. You can describe a desired effect, then make a skill check with your magic skill and your Essence attribute, attempting to meet a difficulty set by the game master. There are also set rituals and spells in each school of magic.
Certain individuals are born with an innate ability to navigate the Mists, allowing mortals to travel between the True Realms. Mistrunners pilot transports called Mistbarges. The Mistrunners Guild is the most powerful organization in the True Realms, as they hold commerce in their iron grip.
The hub of the known Realms. This town was built near a number of favorable tracks in the Mists. All the major guilds and most churches have representatives here.
